Half Rhombus Tutorial.

Please click the link for the tutorial!

A tutorial to go with the nail art featured in this post. Though it is by no means hard to divine how I achieve this style, I just wanted to do a tutorial of it since the half rhombus is my go-to if not signature nail art look.

Two coats of the base colour.
The polishes used in this tutorial are Catrice, '670 It's Rambo No. 5', and Essence '53 You Belong to Me'. They are both from before the rebranding of those companies' nail polish lines, so I do not know if these exact colours are still availabe.
You will also need tape (and rhinestones if desired).

The first step is to paint your nails with the base colour. It is generally recommended to use your lightest colour as a base, because lighter colours are harder to layer over dark ones. Finish with a top coat.

Next it is time to start cutting your tape. Make sure your nails are bone dry before working with tape! You will need to cut 10 pieces, roughly 2 cm (~0.8 inches) in length, and cut those into uneven triangles.

I generally go for wide-base triangles, but for the sake of the tutorial also threw in a long, thin arrow-shape.

Now the time has come to turn yourself into Edward Scissorhands' lesser known cousin, Tapefingers. Before applying the tape to the nail, stick it on the side of your hand so the oil in your skin makes the tape a bit less sticky. This helps prevent damage to the polish underneath, and makes it easier to remove later. Take your time with placement! Once it's on, it's on. Make sure the tape is on as smooth as possible, any openings on the sides of the tape will let in polish later on and ruin your crisp lines.

Then it's time to get out your second colour. I prefer starting on the nails of my non-dominant hand. Apply two coats of polish on the nail (don't take too long with this!) and remove the tape carefully. Then move on to the next finger.
When removing the tape, try to have both corners pop up so the tape comes off evenly in a downward motion.
Repeat for all nails, clean up any mess, finish with a top coat and voila. Half rhombus complete!

Please let me know what you thought of this tutorial, and if you decide to go for it, show me your creations!
